  • Who will be the Top Goalscorer?

There is no bigger competition in soccer than the World Cup and the 2018 instalment is set to take place in Russia between June 14 and July 15, with 32 national teams from across the globe aiming to lift the famous trophy.

We preview the Goalscorer markets and give our tips for three players who could win the Golden Boot in the 2018 World Cup.

Lionel Messi (Argentina)

Argentina was on the brink of missing qualifying for the 2018 World Cup before legend Lionel Messi returned to score a hat-trick against Ecuador in a 3-1 victory. 30-year-old retired back in 2016 but was persuaded to return by the Argentinian team. His record of 552 goals in 637 games for Barcelona is truly spectator. He has scored 64 times in 124 games for Argentina. If this Argentinian side is to progress through the knockout stages of the tournament, Messi must be the man to carry this team. He is a big chance for the Golden boot in 2018.

Neymar (Brazil)

Neymar broke his metatarsal for PSG in February and it was a race against time for the superstar to return for the 2018 World Cup. He played his first official match since that injury against Croatia on Sunday and showed no ill effects of that injury. He came on as a second-half substitute and scored the game’s first goal. Brazil are sure to make a deep run in this tournament and if Neymar is near full fitness, he can be atop the goal scoring at the end of the tournament.

Thomas Muller (Germany)

Germany are the equal favourites to take out the World Cup and with no Miroslav Klose, the price for Thomas Muller looks outstanding. The German plays his best on the big stage. In 2010 he scored five goals in six games. In 2014 he repeated the dose, with another five goals as Germany went onto win the World Cup. He has had an up and down season for Bayern, scoring 15 goals in 45 games. That mixed form is surely the reason he is at $26, however that still seems way over the odds. Thomas Muller is a huge chance to take out the Golden Boot in 2018.
