Usain Bolt to make move into soccer and sign for Central Coast Mariners?

Gary Emmerson 17 Jul 2018

Superstar sprinter Usain Bolt is just $2.25 to make a permanent move into soccer and sign with the central Coast Mariners for the A-league season.

Bolt, the legendary 100m sprinter, is having a six week trial with the Mariners in the hope of impressing and landing a contract ahead of the 2018/19 A-League season.

The eight-time Olympic gold medallist has been keen on making the switch to professional soccer since hanging up his running spikes last year.

The 31-year-old has had trials German side Borussia Dortmund and Norway's Stromsgodset already, and it is the Mariners who have given him his latest chance to prove he can cut it in the professional game.

Online bookmaker Sportsbet make it a $2.25 chance that Bolt signs on permanently with the Central Coast Mariners - a move which would need the Football Federation Australia (FFA) to supplement his salary.

It is also $31 for Bolt to win the Johnny Warren Medal, the award given to the A-League player of the year, in the 2018/19 season.
