Tottenham's inexperienced International Champions Cup squad faces another tough test on Friday as they take on Champions League finalists Atletico Madrid at the MCG.

Tottenham v Atletico Madrid kicks off at 8.00pm AEST (11.00am UK) and will be streamed live online.

Tottenham's preparations for the forthcoming season continue with this friendly match against Atletico Madrid.

Spurs have already played one game on their pre-season trip to Australia, going down 2-1 to a strong Juventus outfit, but Mauricio Pochettino will be pleased with the second half performance of his young, inexperienced side.

Some of Tottenham's big stars have been left out of this arduous trip to the Southern Hemisphere, with the likes of Harry Kane, Hugo Lloris and Dele Alli being given more time to recover from the European Championships.

Atletico Madrid have continually performed above expectations for the last few years and once again they were challenging for trophies on all fronts last year, again losing out to city rivals Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

Diego Simeone will be hoping his team can take inspiration from that defeat to avoid heartbreak in the forthcoming season.

Atletico will face Melbourne Victory next week before heading back to Europe to take on Galatasaray before the new La Liga campaign begins. They've played one friendly so far, overcoming Liga Segunda outfit Numancia 2-0 before embarking on this Australian journey.

Tottenham played quite an open style against Juventus and there's no reason to believe that Pochettino's men won't adopt that familiar approach in this game too. Atletico are known for a strong defensive set-up but with less pressure on in pre-season friendlies, they too may look to be a little more expansive.

In the attacking ranks for Spurs, the likes of Erik Lamela and Heung-Min Son will be hoping to impress alongside new signing Vincent Janssen who will be desperate to open his scoring account for Spurs. Meanwhile, the likes of Luciano Vietto and Fernando Torres will be available to the Spanish side.

This will be a particularly tough test for Tottenham without their star men - how can they cope in Melbourne?
