Antonio Conte's Chelsea will meet Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup in this intriguing friendly fixture at the Michigan Stadium.

Real Madrid v Chelsea kicks off at 05.00am AEST on Sunday (8.00pm UK) and will be streamed live online.

Real Madrid's pre-season got off to a disappointing start on Wednesday as they went down 3-1 to Paris Saint Germain at the Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

Les Parisiens raced into a three goal lead in the first half before a Marcelo penalty restored some pride for Zinedine Zidane's men, but the French boss will have been disappointed with his team's performance in that game.

With a few key players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale still enjoying an extended break following their exertions at this summer's European Championships, this match against Chelsea will provide a chance for some of Zidane's fringe players to feature and impress and they'll be hoping to put in a better performance.

Chelsea are a little further along in their preparations for the new campaign. The Blues have played three friendlies so far, losing their first match to Austrian side Rapid Vienna, before recovering well to overcome Wolfsberger AC 3-0 in Austria and then heading out to the USA for these International Champions Cup games and starting with an impressive win against Liverpool.

Despite a red card for midfielder Cesc Fabregas, Chelsea were able to beat their Premier League rivals 1-0 thanks to a first-half strike from defender Gary Cahill. Antonio Conte will be pleased with how his gameplan worked in that fixture and he'll be hoping his players can pick up another confidence-boosting win.

Although Conte is known for his defensive organisation of teams, how well can this Chelsea defence fare against such a strong Real Madrid attacking line-up? Even without Ronaldo and Bale, the likes of Lucas Vasquez, Alvaro Morata and James Rodriguez could feature and will cause the Blues defence plenty of problems.

As strong as these attackers are, the more inexperienced defenders in the Real Madrid squad for these pre-season friendlies showed their weaknesses in the defeat to Paris Saint Germain on Wednesday. Attackers like Willian, Pedro and Michy Batshuayi will be looking to take advantage of any gaps in the Spanish side's defence.
