Perth Glory and Western Sydney Wanderers meet in a tasty FFA Cup quarter-final as they battle for the last place in the semis.

Kenny Lowe's Glory side needed a penalty shootout to eventually overcome Newcastle Jets in their FFA Cup opener.

They were back on the road in the Round of 16 and just edged Lions FC 1-0 despite being reduced to 10 men early in the contest.

Perth, who lost to Adelaide United in the inaugural final last year, now face their stiffest test of the FFA Cup against the Wanderers.

New Glory goalkeeper Ante Covic will be up against his former side having left Western Sydney to head west.

Covic's departure was one of a host of changes to Tony Popovic's squad as Western Sydney bid to avoid another horror season.

Wanderers opened the FFA Cup with a 1-0 win over Brisbane Roar before defeat Palm Beach Springs 2-0 to progress to the quarter-finals.
