Perth Glory v Central Coast Mariners A-League Match Preview and Predictions - Glory to continue home form

Gary Emmerson 8 Mar 2018
  • Perth Glory have won their last two home games
  • Central Coast Mariners have not won in the last six visits to Perth (five losses and a draw)
  • The Mariners ended an 11-game run with victory in their last game

Perth Glory missed the chance to close the gap on the top six last weekend, but start as favourites to boost their finals hopes against Central Coast Mariners on Saturday night.

Glory v Mariners kicks off at 10.00pm AEST at nib Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

Match Preview

A 1-1 draw with Western Sydney Wanderers on Sunday left Perth Glory still four points adrift of the finals position but Kenny Lowe will see Saturday's clash with Central Coast Mariners as an ideal opportunity to boost hopes of securing a place in the top six in the coming months.

Glory have won their last two games at nib Stadium with victories over Western Sydney Wanderers and Melbourne City, and after their away run without a win was extended to six fixtures they will be glad of home comforts this weekend.

The Mariners won the battle of the bottom last weekend with a 1-0 success over Wellington Phoenix, but they remain in ninth spot - albeit only three points and one place behind Perth on the ladder.

Paul Okon's side still have an outside chance of making the finals themselves, but they will need to make a move this week if they are to seriously test the resolve of the side above.

The win against Phoenix last outing ended an 11-game run without victory and, although the haven't been losing games frequently, the Mariners have struggled to get the job done with too many draws.

When you factor in that Central Coast have not won in Perth at the last six attempts - five defeats and a draw in that time - this game looks a prime opportunity for Glory to turn the heat on their rivals above on the ladder.
