Match Preview

Not only can Derby County announce themselves as true title contenders on Friday they can also inflict a third successive defeat on fierce rivals Nottingham Forest.

The Rams are in fifth position on the league ladder with a points total of 30 and are only one point behind the leading trio.

They have a record of eight wins, six draws and one defeat this season with their only loss being a 2-1 home defeats at the hands of Leeds United back in week five.

Since that loss they have gone 10 matches unbeaten thanks to eight wins and two draws. They come into this game on the back of a 1-0 win over QPR with former Aston Villa striker Andreas Weimann scoring his second goal of the season.

The Rams are still without Will Hughes and Jake Buxton through injury, while Craig Bryson is 100% fit and is expected to take a place on the bench.

Nottingham Forest, on the other hand, are in serious trouble at the moment and could soon find themselves dragged into a relegation battle.

They are currently in 19th position with 14 points just four outside the drop zone and have not won a league match since beating Birmingham City 1-0 in week seven.

Since that victory they have now gone eight games without claiming maximum points and head into this contest on the back of a 1-0 loss at Preston North End on Tuesday.

Britt Assombalonga remains out injured for Forest, while Jonny Williams and David Vaughan are close to returning.

Derby County have won six of their last seven matches in the Championship, while Forest have failed to win any of their last eight in the league.

These two last met in the Championship back in January 2015 with Nottingham Forest running out 2-1 winners at the iPro Stadium with Ben Osborn scoring the winner in injury time.
