Match Preview

It was an entertaining affair when these two sides met in Japan just six days ago with Leroy George netting from the penalty in injury-time to earn Melbourne Victory a point from a 2-2 draw.

That result leaves the return game in Melbourne as must-win for both sides - something neither have done yet in the campaign - if they are to harbour realistic hopes of qualifying from AFC Champions League Group F.

For Kawasaki, last week's draw was their first point of the campaign, while for Victory is was a second stalemate in three games. But Melbourne are three points adrift of Ulsan Hyundai in second and that gap is four points to Kawasaki.

With both sides having to face the current top two in the group in their remaining games, it is easy to see why a win in this game is a must.

Melbourne Victory have enjoyed the weekend off since last week's draw, while Kawasaki were back in J-League action as they recorded a 2-0 success over Gamba Osaka before making the trip Down Under.

Kawasaki will be favourites to take the points home with them, but given they have yet to show a tendancy to win in Group F yet they are worth taking on.
