Hull City v Derby County - Sky Bet Championship Match Preview and Kick-Off Time

Phil Lowe 27 Nov 2015
  • Hull City host Derby County at 1945 GMT on Friday
  • Tigers skipper Michael Dawson out with hamstring injury
  • Johnson banned for the Rams
Tom Huddlestone (R) of Hull City challenges Lindon Meikle of York City.

First takes on fourth this Friday as Hull City welcome Derby County to the KC Stadium in the Sky Bet Championship.

Hull City are top of the league ladder in the second tier of English football with a total of 35 points and they have only lost two games all season.

Their last league defeat was a 1-0 away loss against Brighton & Hove Albion in week six thanks to Tomer Hemed’s fifth minute goal.

Since going down at The American Express Community Stadium they have won seven and drawn four, they come into this game on the back of a 1-1 away draw at Bristol City.

Tigers boss Steve Bruce was pleased with how his side responded from going a goal down at Bristol City, but felt his team were too sloppy to take maximum points. He told the Hull Daily Mail:
“We were nowhere near our best in the first half. We found it difficult to control the ball and pass it and have any sort of movement. But we stuck at it, which I like. There wasn't many playing on top of their game. They all found it a bit difficult.
“It was a big toss to lose. The sun was blinding down, it was a bobbly pitch and they were windy conditions. Unfortunately, we made too many mistakes. When it's like that, the simpler your game is the better. Second half, we rolled up our sleeves. It was an onslaught. We've come away with a draw but we're a touch disappointed. We made too many mistakes. We were too sloppy.
"Overall, we'll get on with it and take a point away from home."

Hull skipper Michael Dawson picked up a hamstring injury in the draw against Bristol City and is likely to be on the sidelines for up to four weeks.

Derby County are another team pushing for automatic promotion and after blowing a great chance last season they will be eager not to make the same mistake again.

They are currently fourth on the league ladder with 33 points and if they beat Hull and Middlesbrough and Brighton fail to win they could end up top of the standings.

The Rams have won nine matches this season and have won four of their last five league matches. They come into this contest on the back of a 2-0 success against Cardiff City with George Thorne and Andreas Weimann scoring second-half goals.

Derby County will be without Bradley Johnson for the trip to Hull after the midfielder collected his fifth booking of the season against Cardiff and will now sit out with a one match ban.

The last time Hull City were in the Championship they ran out 2-1 winners over Derby thanks to a winner from Ahmed El Mohamady with three minutes remaining.

Hull City versus Derby County takes place at the KC Stadium on Friday, November 27 with a kick-off time of 1945 GMT.
