Match Preview

Fulham's start to the season has been somewhat mismatched. The Cottagers endured a difficult season last year as Welsh boss Kit Symons struggled to repair the damage done by previous manager Felix Magath but after leading the club away from the relegation zone, his hopes will have no doubt been high ahead of this current campaign.

Thus far however his side have looked a little off the pace. In their first seven matches of the season, the West London club have managed just two victories and two draws, losing three times to sit in a relatively disappointing 16th place at this early stage.

Queens Park Rangers have also had a mixed bag of results in these early fixtures. The R's have four points more on the board than their neighbours ahead of this derby day clash, but they have played one more game than the Cottagers and it's worth noting that they haven't won in their last three games.

Put simply, it's difficult to tell which Hoops outfit will turn up on a weekly basis. They've managed impressive away results against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Hull City but have occasionally floundered, including in the home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

We're backing some goals in this game. Queens Park Rangers have not been goal-shy at all so far this term, with Premier League target Charlie Austin leading the line and firing in six goals in eight games in the process, with the likes of Tjarron Chery and Matt Phillips chipping in with a couple of their own too.

Fulham possess the deadly Ross McCormack in their striking ranks and the Scottish marksman has led the line well for a side that have found the net at least once in every league match so far this campaign. Youngsters Mousa Dembele and Cauley Woodrow will also provide support for McCormack.

For us though, Fulham should get the win here. They have a fine record over the Hoops having won six of the last eight meetings between the two clubs. There's no shame in their midweek defeat to Premier League Stoke City and before that they had won back-to-back home games over Sheffield United and Blackburn Rovers.

This should be a solid match. A healthy rivalry between two teams that like to play on the front foot and possess real quality attacking players should result in a tasty fixture at Craven Cottage on Friday night.
