Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City continue their pre-season preparations with what should be a fascinating International Champions Cup clash in China.

Dortmund v City kicks off at 9.30pm AEST (12.30pm UK) on Thursday and will be streamed live online.

Both teams are expecting big things this season. Dortmund have added well to their attacking threat and will be desperate to finish closer to Bayern Munich, while this is Manchester City's first campaign under new manager Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard should know all about Thursday's opponents too after three years as Bayern manager. He had mixed results against them, but will certainly be aware of the type of challenge they will give his team.

All pre-season matches are about more than the result and for City this couldn't be more true after their clash with Manchester United was called off earlier in the week. This is about Guardiola getting his message across and preparing as well as possible for what will be a tough Premier League campaign.

There's even been reports that the new boss isn't happy with the fitness of his new side, with some 'overweight' players banished from training this week. If they didn't know it before, City's squad know how hard they need to work under the new regime.

As for Dortmund, they have already impressed this summer. During the 4-1 victory over Manchester United, they showed their supreme attacking flair and this will be on show again this week.

Mario Gotze is back at the club and he adds to the threat from Marco Reus and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. It's unknown how many of these will be involved on Thursday though, while fellow new recruit Andre Schurrle is not with the squad in China.

One thing for sure is that this is a meeting of two tactical minds with Guardiola and Thomas Tuchel exchanging blows and letting their talented teams loose to ensure an entertaining pre-season clash.
