Sydney FC face Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday night

We’re only 10 rounds in, but it’s already time for the second Sydney derby of the season as reigning premiers Sydney FC face bitter rivals Western Sydney Wanderers in the pick of the A-League Round 10 matches this weekend.

Cross-town rivals Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers collide for the second time this season on Saturday night at ANZ Stadium, with a bumper crowd of over 50,000 expected for the showpiece fixture.

Sydney and the Wanderers drew 2-2 back in Round 3 as the Sky Blues recovered from a 2-0 deficit to earn a share of the spoils. Sydney come into this clash on the back of a 1-0 win over Adelaide to go five points clear at the top of the ladder, while the Wanderers slumped to a second consecutive loss and to ninth on the table after going down 2-0 to Brisbane.

Round 10 action kicks off at Etihad Stadium as Melbourne Victory play host to Adelaide United on Friday night. Victory came back from two goals down to topple Wellington 3-2 last week, while Adelaide couldn’t get FFA Cup revenge over Sydney, losing 1-0 at home.

Brisbane Roar target back-to-back wins for the first time this season in the first game on Saturday when they take a home game down to the Gold Coast to meet Wellington Phoenix. Brisbane claimed their second win of the season with a 2-0 triumph over the Wanderers, while Wellington remain anchored to the bottom of the ladder with just five points following their home defeat to Victory.

Perth Glory and Newcastle Jets will be looking to bounce back from respective last-start defeats when they clash at nib Stadium in the final game on Saturday night. Glory were toppled 1-0 by the Mariners, while an injury-hit Newcastle went down 2-1 to City.

Speaking of those two victorious teams, the Central Coast Mariners and Melbourne City square off in the final Round 10 fixture at AAMI Park on Sunday night. City could potentially leapfrog Newcastle into second place with a win, while the Mariners are flying high in fourth spot and could come to within one point of City if they can claim another victory.
