The Parramatta Eels have boosted their backline stocks for the future after announcing the signing of English centre Ben Crooks.

Crooks joins the Eels from Super League club Hull FC on a two-year deal that will keep him at Parramatta until at least the end of the 2016 season.

The 21-year-old is a prolific try scorer and was named in the 2013 Super League Dream Team after crossing the stripe on 19 occasions in 18 games.

Crooks says he is excited about challenging himself in the NRL next season.

"The next two years are a vital stage of my development, and the NRL has always been a goal of mine," Crooks told the Eels' official website.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge."

Eels head coach Brad Arthur was also delighted to welcome Crooks to the club, saying he will add depth to their outside backs.

“Ben is a talented footballer who is excited about a chance to make it in the NRL,” Arthur said.

“He will add great depth to our outside backs, which means there will be even more competition for a spot in our side - and that’s a great thing to have.”

Crooks joins 2013 recruit Lee Mossop as the second Englishman to sign with the Eels in as many seasons.

The centre and occasional goal-kicker will join the Eels for pre-season training in November.
