NRL Round 23

Brisbane Broncos and Cronulla Sharks clash in a top four showdown, while Melbourne Storm and the Sydney Roosters collide in a top two battle in the pick of the NRL Round 23 matches this upcoming weekend.

Fresh off putting 50+ points past the Titans on Saturday, the Broncos will be looking to extend their winning momentum when they host the Sharks at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night, with the reigning premiers looking to bounce back from their home loss to the Raiders.

Melbourne meanwhile are looking in unstoppable form, and they can create a six-point gap on the Sydney Roosters when they meet at AAMI Park in the second game on Saturday night, with the Tricolours reeling following a big loss to the Sea Eagles.

Round 23 action kicks off at ANZ Stadium on Thursday night when the Canterbury Bulldogs take on the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Both sides are out of the finals race, but it’s the Rabbitohs who are looking far stronger at the moment, beating the Dragons last week, while the Bulldogs were never in the hunt against Parramatta.

Speaking of the Eels, Brad Arthur’s side will be hoping to continue their charge towards the top four when they entertain the Newcastle Knights, with Nathan Brown’s side currently on a two-match winning run for the first time in two years.

Super Saturday launches at UOW Jubilee Oval as the struggling St George Illawarra Dragons look to get their season back on track against the Gold Coast Titans. The Dragons slipped outside of the top eight following their loss to the Rabbitohs and they can’t afford to drop two more points on Saturday afternoon.

Penrith Panthers will be aiming to cement their top eight status when they square off against the North Queensland Cowboys on Saturday night at Pepper Stadium. The Panthers can draw level with the Cowboys if they win, while North Queensland need to win to keep pace with the top four.

Currently four points adrift of the top eight but finally playing some great footy, the Canberra Raiders are tasked with another must-win game following their win over the Sharks, facing off against the embattled New Zealand Warriors on Sunday across the Tasman.

Round 23 concludes on Sunday afternoon when the Manly Sea Eagles look to back up their superb victory over the Roosters against the 15th-placed Wests Tigers.
