NRL Round 11 Fixtures and Preview - Panthers and Warriors hunt down Dragons

Gary Emmerson 14 May 2018
  • Panthers and Warriors can draw level at the top
  • Dragons bid to bounce back

Penrith Panthers and New Zealand Warriors get the chance to draw level with ladder leaders St George Illawarra Dragons when they feature in the opening two games of NRL Round 11.

The second-place Panthers and third-place Warriors are two points adrift of the Dragons, who are not in action until Sunday afternoon when they host the Canberra Raiders.

Before that Penrith kick off the Round 11 games on Thursday night when they host Wests Tigers with both sides coming off Round 10 wins against the Newcastle Knights and North Queensland Cowboys respectively.

In the first of two Friday night games, the Warriors travel to Parramatta Eels looking to quickly extinguish the disappointment of last week's 32-0 home defeat at the hands of the Sydney Roosters. The bottom-of-the-ladder Eels were also beaten when going down at Canterbury Bulldogs.

The Roosters feature in the other Friday night footy game as they head north to tackle Brisbane Broncos, who slipped to a 14-point loss to Manly Sea Eagles in a high-scoring affair last weekend.

The first of three Saturday games sees the Gold Coast Titans bid to end a five-game losing streak when they entertain a Newcastle Knight side which has lost their last two fixtures.

South Sydney Rabbitohs scored a significant win over the Dragons last weekend and the Bunnies will be out to follow up that success when they head to Townsville to take on a Cowboys outfit keen to bounce back from defeat to Wests.

Melbourne Storm and Manly Sea Eagles returned to winning ways in Round 10 with victories over the Titans and Broncos respectively and they bid for back-to-back successes when they meet on Saturday night.

The Dragons will look to maintain their two-point lead at the top of the ladder with a home game against the Raiders on Sunday, before the final game of the weekend between Cronulla Sharks, who are chasing a fifth straight win, and the Bulldogs.
