North Queensland Cowboys and Parramatta Eels look to bounce back from last-start defeats when the two teams clash in NRL Round 10 action on Saturday.

After a humbling and embarrassing loss to the Storm last week, can Parramatta post an immediate response when they travel further north to face the Cowboys on Saturday?

It was a Magic Round to forget for the Eels as they were on the receiving end of a 64-10 beatdown at the hands of rampaging Melbourne outfit.

Parramatta were being talked about as top four contenders following their big wins over the Tigers and Dragons at BankWest Stadium in recent weeks, but they came crashing back down to earth in Round 9.

It shows the Eels have a lot of work to do if they want to be counted amongst the top teams this season, but there’s a good chance to bounce back this week against a struggling team.

North Queensland are 3-6 for the season so far and are languishing in 13th spot on the ladder following their defeat to the Rabbitohs last week.

The Cowboys fought back to make the scoreline closer at 32-16, but the damage was done in the first half, and from there, Paul Green’s side never looked a real chance of making a game of it.

It’s a big game for both sides - the Eels need to prove they have what it takes to be contenders this season, while the Cowboys can’t afford to lose touching distance of the top eight.

The Cowboys have won three of their last four meetings, which should give them confidence for this one. Parramatta, as we saw last week, are still suspect outside of BankWest Stadium, and the Cowboys weren’t too bad last week against Souths. I’m backing the home side in a close one.

Stats

  • Cowboys have won three of their last four meetings
