Fiji face Wales on Sunday

Fiji aim to build on their enormous opening World Cup victory when they take on Wales at 1300SMILES Stadium in Townsville on Sunday.

After demolishing USA last week, Fiji will be gunning for a similar performance on Sunday - and you’d be a brave man to beg against them.

Fiji put 58 points on the hapless American team and if they didn’t take their foot off the pedal with 15 minutes to go, they could have been pushing closer to the 100 mark.

With a world class backline and explosive forward pack, the Fiji team are set to be very competitive if they can make the knockout stages - and another big win over Wales would pretty much propel them into the last eight.

Suliasi Vunivalu, Taane Milne, Kevin Naiqama, Akuila Uate and Marcelo Montoya combined to score 28 points between them last week, and they will be tough to stop again on Sunday.

Wales struggled with the heat in a 50-6 opening loss in Port Moresby against Papua New Guinea, and unfortunately for them, Townsville won’t be much cooler on Sunday evening - but at least the sun will be setting.

Nevertheless, Wales are going to find it tough to be competitive against Fiji - their only hope is to try and keep it close in the first 20 minutes and attempt to frustrate the Fijians into error.

It’s the first meeting between the two nations, and anything other than a big Fiji win would come as a shock.
