Australia face Lebanon on Saturday

Defending champions Australia target an unbeaten passage through to the quarter-finals when they host Lebanon at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.

Australia are set to make it three wins from three as they continue their Rugby League World Cup title defence on Saturday night in a first-time showdown with Lebanon.

A tough opening win over England was followed up by a 52-6 victory over France last week, although the Kangaroos would want to improve their starts, with the French side matching with the Australians for the opening 30 minutes or so before the defending champions ran away with the second half.

Mal Meninga has opted for a big reshuffle in the backline with Australia having bigger fish to fry over the course of the next few weeks, with Valentine Holmes shifting to fullback for Billy Slater and Cameron Munster slotting into the centres for Josh Dugan.

Lebanon have already experienced a great World Cup, downing France in their opener - and if the French fail to cause an upset over England, they will advance to their first ever quarter-final.

NRL stars Mitchell Moses, Robbie Farah and Tim Mannah have all been excellent representing Lebanon, and the trio will be determined for big performances against their Australian counterparts.

But, in reality, it’ll take a miracle for Lebanon to remain competitive with Australia, let alone pull off a shock win. Australia have rested multiple key players, but they should have more than enough firepower to register another big win in preparation for the quarter-finals.
