The instant success of online game Pokémon Go has led a bookmaker opening several betting markets on the gaming phenomenon.
In case you aren’t up to speed with Pokémon Go, players are required to visit Pokéstops to collect valuable items, while battles with other opponent can be sought at PokéGyms.
Sportsbet.com.au has opened betting on where in Sydney and Melbourne the first Legendary Pokémon will be found, while its popularity versus social networking giants Facebook and Twitter has also created interest.
Hyde Park leads the Sydney race at odds of $6.00 while in Melbourne the MCG is the $6.00 favourite.
Pokémon Go is expected to pass Twitter for users this year with Facebook also in its sights.
Pokémon Go has exploded in popularity since its release last week and the gaming app hasn’t even received an international release yet.
Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au has opened markets on where the first Legendary Pokémon will be found with users frantically searching throughout Sydney and Melbourne.
In Sydney, Hyde Park is the $6.00 favourite ahead of the Opera House ($7.50) and Wynyard Station (8.00).
While in Melbourne the MCG is the $6.00 favourite, with St Kilda Beach ($6.50), Westgate Bridge ($7.00) and Flemington Racecourse ($7.50) also in the mix.

“It’s a long time since something has captured and dominated the public’s attention like this and it’s only going to get bigger once it arrives in every other country,’’ sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne said.
“We’re already tipping the game to surpass Twitter this year and Facebook will no doubt be looking over their shoulders.”
