Eurovision 2017: Isaiah Firebrace hoping to land Eurovision crown for Australia

Isaiah Firebrace

Australian Eurovision 2017 representative Isaiah Firebrace is shaping as one of the underdogs to watch at the popular song contest if the latest odds are anything to go by.

X Factor winner Isaiah is proving a popular pick with punters as Eurovision prepares to get underway, with the soulful Aussie singer the third best backed contestant to win the music extravaganza.

Online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au is reporting a truckload of support for Isaiah, with last year’s X Factor champion now at odds of $23 to win Eurovision - making him the fifth favourite overall.

Italy are overwhelming favourites at odds of $1.62, while there’s barely anything separating Bulgaria ($9.00), Portugal and Sweden (both $10) in the latest market.

Isaiah is already in Ukraine for Eurovision rehearsals and is hoping to improve on Dami Im’s showing from last year for Australia.

“With a little over a week to go the punters are flocking to Firebrace to win Eurovision and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the best backed by the final,’’ said sportsbet.com.au’s Will Byrne.
