Big Bash League: Perth Scorchers favourites for title ahead of finals

Gary Emmerson 29 Jan 2018
  • Scorchers are the defending champions
  • Hurricanes, Strikers and Renegades join them in semis

Perth Scorchers have been installed as favourites to win a fourth Big Bash League title ahead of the finals of BBL07.

The Scorchers are the defending champions and also won back-to-back titles in the third and fourth editions of the competition in 2014 and 2015.

Perth are the $2.60 favourites to be crowned BBL winners once again with CrownBet making the Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades equal second favourites at $4.00 and the Hobart Hurricanes outsiders at $5.00.

The Scorchers qualified as top seeds for this year's finals and will stage the title decider should they make it, but first must get past the Hurricanes in their semi-final at the new Optus Stadium on Thursday night.

Perth are $1.53 to make a winning start at their new home with the Hurricanes, who were beaten by the Scorchers in the final of BBL03, priced at $2.50 to cause an upset.

The Strikers will host the Renegades in the second semi-final at Adelaide Oval on Friday night with both sides bidding to make the final for the first time. With home advantage, Adelaide are marginal $1.88 favourites to get the better of the Renegades at $1.92.
