Adelaide Crows v North Melbourne Predictions and Match Preview - Can North Melbourne keep their finals hopes alive?

Rippa Staff 18 Aug 2018
  • The Adelaide Crows will host North Melbourne in this Round 22 clash at Adelaide Oval

The Adelaide Crows host North Melbourne at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, August 19 at 4:40pm AEST.

The action can be seen live on Fox Footy from 4:30pm.

Match Preview

Following a shock loss against the Western Bulldogs, this is a must-win match for North Melbourne to keep their finals hopes alive. The Kangaroos were meek after halftime, allowing the Bulldogs to kick nine goals to three in the second half.

The Kangaroos seemingly had the game under control, with a 28-point lead going into the main break. The Kangaroos couldn’t get their hands on the footy in the second half, with Jack Macrae, Caleb Daniel and Lachie Hunter all racking up 40 disposals or more in the win.

North Melbourne now find themselves a game outside of the eight, with only two rounds remaining. A trip to Adelaide Oval to face the Crows is followed by a match against the Saints in Round 23.

The Crows are coming to the end of a disappointing season but will be keen to give their loyal fans something to cheer about in their last home game of the season. The Crows will be without skipper Tex Walker after he accepted a two-match ban for a dangerous tackle on Giants star Josh Kelly.

The Crows are showing positive signs late in the season. They showed that they can still play at a high level with their thrilling three-point victory over the Power in Showdown 45. They were right in the match until late in the final quarter against the Giants in Canberra.

Team News

The Crows will miss skipper Taylor Walker after he accepted a two-match suspension for a dangerous tackle on Josh Kelly. Some good news for the Crows, they will welcome back Paul Seedsman from a hamstring injury, along with Riley Knight, Mitch McGovern and Jake Kelly.

The Kangaroos will miss Ben Jacobs this week. The Club was hopeful he could return from concussion as early as this week but he hasn’t been named in the extended squad. Nathan Hrovat, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Ben McKay and Declan Mountford have all been named on the extended bench.

Stats

  • The Kangaroos are 0-5 at Adelaide Oval, with an average losing margin of 55.6 points.
  • The Crows are 7-4 at the Adelaide Oval this season. A disappointing result compared to their 10-3 record at this ground in 2017.
  • Adelaide and North Melbourne are 2-2 in their last four encounters. With the last two matches decided by over 50 points.
